Case Study 5 – Design a new ecommerce website; Generate search engine visibility (SEO) for an artist and jewelry designer.

Background : Client is an artist that creates and markets unique dog breed art and animal-themed jewelry. Our assignment was to create a showcase website for her art along with an online sales channel for her art prints and jewelry, all within in a small budget.  Competitive research indicated that the dog art print business was an extremely crowded arena.

 

Our Approach : We created a website that matched the artist’s design sensibility and built the site using a simple, free (open source) shopping cart and content management system that was easy for the user to administrate. We built a gallery presentation for the art, along with optimized landing pages for each breed designed to maximize the search engine page result for that specific breed.  We also set up a link exchange tool that allowed the user to manage reciprocal links.

 

Outcome : Within 6 months of its launch, the website achieved top of page 1 rankings on Google for the both the broadest search terms (“dog art” and “dog art prints”) and for many of the breeds featured ("bichon frise art" ", "poodle art", etc.).  Sales have grown steadily over time and the artist has received numerous kudos for her art and the website from customers and website visitors..
